Reading the English Pub Summer 2025 newsletter made me reflect on how important renewal is, even as a college student balancing classes, assignments, and responsibilities. I really connected with the idea that rest is not a waste of time, but something necessary to stay motivated and avoid burnout. It reminded me that taking time to reset can actually help me come back more focused and productive in my own academic work.

Dr Walter, when you mentioned that you fight the urge to sit down and rest because if you do then you might not get back up. I was just telling that to someone earlier in the week. I gotta keep the workflow up while I have the motivation!

Travis, someone told me once that if no one were around to hold me back I would run right off the end of the world. It's a good thing I love what I do!

This newsletter really made me think about what renewal actually means beyond just taking a break. I liked how it emphasized that renewal isn’t only about rest, but about reconnecting with yourself and finding new energy and purpose. The idea of summer as a chapter break felt especially meaningful, because it shows that pausing is still part of the overall journey, not a step away from it. It also made me realize how important it is to intentionally choose activities that refill your energy instead of just stopping work.

I loved getting to go to the Buffalo River and Petit Jean. Those are some top-tier spots to go in Arkansas. Got some new ideas for this summer now, thanks to Mr. Welch.

The Summer 2025 newsletter was interesting to read as a student because it showed how much effort is put into improving education. I liked seeing the different opportunities because it made me realize how teachers are always working to help students succeed not only in the classroom but outside of it as well. This made me appreciate all of the work educators do.

Enjoyed the book review on Becoming, definitely will consider giving it a read. I especially enjoyed the highlighted bit where she talks about surrounding her self with like minded and supportive people, as that is something I am currently working on.

Thank you, Bobby. I'm glad you enjoyed my book review! It's a wonderful book, and I truly enjoyed reading it. Michelle’s emphasis on the importance of community was something I really resonated with. I too believe it’s important to surround yourself with people who share similar ideals and beliefs, as, in my opinion, it creates happier and healthier relationships. Thank you for contributing to The English Pub!
